TEXTING A recent survey revealed that more young people use texting, manipulating the keypad with fingers and thumbs, for communication than speaking on phones. Brevity - a 140 character limit - forces one to get to the point. This is beneficial for both parties. A primary advantage of texting is that it can be accomplished when a phone call in the same environment would be inappropriate such as in a meeting or while dining informally. The cost for a texting plan is less than for talking; however, in most cases, it is necessary to have a talk plan in order to get a texting plan. Unfortunately, many persons text while driving a vehicle - a practice that has resulted in many deaths and onjuries, particularly among young people. Some states have enacted laws making texting illegal while driving.
